TIME

Knowing the time is important to most people - especially when travelling to another land or continent. There are many, many websites associated with 'time' and clocks, here is a very small selection.

Some Background...

The world (globe) is divided into 24 time zones each differing by just one hour. GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) is the starting zone for world time and is set at 00:00 hours, it was orginally based on astronominal observations. Greenwich is a small town located just outside London, England (worth a visit if you are on a Volunteer Compass project in the UK). In 1972 UTC (Co-ordinated Universal Time) replaced GMT as the time standard. UTC is dervived from the International Atomic Time replacing centuries of astonomical calculations.

World Time Server
World Time Server website shows current local time in cities and countries in all time zones, automatically adjusted for local Daylight Saving Time rules. This site allows one to convert times from one location to another or even check current international weather conditions.

Marine Conservation
Volunteer Compass is a professional organization specializing in the field of Marine Conservation. Through our contacts we are invited and offered to participate in projects around the world that need help. Projects that involve animals such as dolphons, whales, seals, sealions, porpoise and projects centred around coral protection and conservation.
Wildlife Conservation
Volunteer Compass work with numerous grass-roots NGOs, voluntary sector groups, conservation parks, institutes and professional bodies placing volunteers within conservation projects; supporting and protecting animals such as pandas, lions, tigers, birds, elephants and big game.

Volunteer Compass' volunteers come from all walks of life and from all over the globe - just to volunteer on worthwhile and ethical projects. Volunteers come from countries such as England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Southern Ireland (Eire), USA, Canada, France, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and all over Europe.
What do our volunteers do as a 'day job'?
Our volunteers have one passion - and that is to volunteer their time, expertise and efforts in helping Marine or Wildlife projects.
